Born and raised in the Haarlemmermeerpolder, back when Hoofddorp was still a small village. He settled in Amsterdam, where he became a lawyer and entrepreneur in 1987. He joined DKVA in 2023 with great enthusiasm.

René specializes in civil law for SMEs, with a focus on contract law and procedural law. In his words: “I handle everything that can go wrong with agreements.” He particularly enjoys delving into the ‘fine print.’ A no-nonsense lawyer who is approachable for everyone. He seeks to uncover the facts and appreciates the ever-evolving nature of the legal field.

René has worked for an employer only once, in the early 1980s. After that company went bankrupt, he started practicing law at the office of the bankruptcy trustee. René is loyal and deeply committed. To people, to beliefs and to possessions. For instance, he drove the same Volvo for 24 years and has been writing for fifty years with the fountain pen he received from his parents. René has been married – for a very long time – to a former lawyer and judge. Together they have two children. After a three-year spell in Alkmaar, he has been living in Amsterdam again since 2026 because “the city continued to hold too much appeal”.
