Thomas obtained his Masters of Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and then worked for five years at several top international US and UK law firms. In the summer of 2023, he made a conscious move to De Koning Vergouwen Advocaten.
He is an experienced lawyer, specializing in both intellectual property and contract law. He can also be contacted for privacy and IT law issues. Thomas advises both companies and individuals on copyright, trade names and trademark law. In 2023, he received a mention for this in the leading guide and ranking The Legal 500 Guide.
Thomas is known for his sharp analytical eye, his negotiating skills and his eye for what is going on in his clients’ day-to-day practice. He assists clients in drafting, reviewing, executing and terminating a variety of commercial contracts. He also has extensive experience in litigation, both in lower courts and in courts of appeal. Thomas goes to great lengths for his clients, but never loses sight of the broader perspective of the case.
In addition to his work as a lawyer, Thomas has a seat in the board of directors at Pictoright, the Dutch collective copyrights organisation for architects, designers and photographers.
In the register of areas of law of the Dutch Bar Association, Thomas has registered intellectual property law as his main area of law. Pursuant to this registration, he is obliged to obtain ten training points within this area of law every calendar year, in accordance with the standards of the order.
